more “Fire-Power” in the pressroom
White Horse Press has announced the purchase of a third B2-format printing press as the latest element of its continued expansion. The Heidelberg Speedmaster CD74 five-colour with coater and extended delivery will be installed in February 2006, and will run alongside the company’s existing five and six colour CD74 presses.
Commenting on the purchase Steve Greener, joint managing director said, “We have seen continued growth during 2005. We are now running our two existing presses to near full capacity, 24-hours a day, including some weekend work. The only option for us was to add more fire-power into the press room!”
WHP directors examined presses from various leading suppliers prior to making this latest purchase, but could find no other machine that offered significant improvements on the products that their pressroom was used to working with. “We were keen to see what else was available on the market, but could find nothing that made us feel that we should change supplier,” said Peter Arnel, joint managing director. “Our existing Heidelberg machines have produced a wide variety of high-quality commercial work for us since we took over the business in 2001, and our machine minders know how to get the best out of the product.”
In addition to ordering the new machine, White Horse has also extended its service cover with Heidelberg for all of the presses at the Newbury site.
With regard to the configuration of the machine, Steve Greener added, “The five-colour plus coater configuration gives us the flexibility to produce a wide range of work. We can add a special colour where required, or run the MetalFX process, without sacrificing the benefits of coating. The dedicated coater is an important factor in handling our typical fast-turnaround commercial print – it ensures a smooth, even coating, and means that we are able to handle work immediately after it comes off the machine.”
The addition of the new press, coupled with the recently announced plans to expand the company’s Newbury premises, will allow White Horse Press to implement the next phase of its business plan.
