White Horse Press – BPIF Short-List x 3!

bpif awardWhite Horse Press (Newbury) Limited, has been short-listed in no less than three categories for the 2006 BPIF Excellence Awards .

From a record number of entries for this year's Awards, 32 of the best companies are now vying with each other in short-lists for eleven different awards. Only two companies have been selected for more than one award category - White Horse Press (3) and the west-country-based "awards specialists" TJ International (4).

Commenting on the competition to make the short-list, BPIF deputy chief executive, Cicely Brown, said, "These awards are tough to enter and to win: companies have recognised that they must excel to win and the submissions have been universally of a high quality. In some categories, I could confidently say that virtually all of the entries in 2006 would have been of finalist calibre five years ago."

To date, 23 specialists from across the industry have spent over 170 man-hours judging the BPIF Excellence Awards. Their deliberations resulted in White Horse Press being short-listed for all three awards that it entered: the Marketing Excellence Award, the HR Best Practice Award, and the UK Company of the Year Award, which is for companies with less than 100 employees.

Commenting on the results to date, Steve Greener, joint managing director of White Horse Press, said, "To have been nominated in three categories is a tremendous accolade - and something that everyone at White Horse is very proud of already. It takes a huge team effort to produce work capable of winning awards, and we recognise the capabilities and quality of our team in getting to this stage of the process."

Short-listed companies come from every sector of the industry including packaging, books and journals, magazines, digital print specialists, industry suppliers, commercial printers and greetings cards specialists, all of whom will be recognised at the gala awards evening that takes place at the Birmingham Metropole Hotel on April 6th - coinciding with IPEX 2006.

"As well as being an international trade show, IPEX is our opportunity to celebrate the UK printing industry and we expect the Excellence Awards to be the highlight of the evening entertainment," Ms Brown added.

White Horse Press is being recognised more and more in the industry for its high-quality, fast-turnaround, high-technology print capabilities. At the end of 2005 it appeared in the PrintWeek Top 500 list of UK printing companies for the very first time, arriving at number 402, putting it in the top 3% of print suppliers in the country. The listing also rated WHP as 12th in the country in terms of return on capital employed.
